Concept Model for Dagobah Playset
This photo comes from a retailer catalog issued by the Australian Toltoys company. It's the only known image of the original hand-made model used to conceptualize the Dagobah action figure playset. The base appears to be either cast in resin or vacu-formed out of thin plastic, while the tree portion looks to have been cast in a couple of different pieces. The folks at Kenner likely sculpted these components fairly quickly and then had them cast and painted just for this purpose. Beyond that, there's much to say about the piece. It incorporates all of the production toy's action features, though the appearances of its various components are distinct vis-a-vis their production counterparts. The foam "quick sand," for instance, is pink, while the levitation lever is gray rather than made in imitation of a tree branch.
