| X-Wing Fighter Special Effects Model | |
| Now this is neat to see. It's one of the original X-Wing models used by ILM in the filming of Star Wars. Specifically, it was used for the final scenes of the film, during which the Rebels' dramatic attack on the Death Star takes place. You know, it's not hyperbole to call this scene one of the most memorable in cinema history. Thoughts like that really help to put this piece in perspective.
Anyway, I'm sure you've noticed that the thing is trashed. This is because ILM workers detonated a charge placed within the model in order to film an explosion. Lisa and Vic tell me that, if you look close enough, you can actually see bits of Porkins splattered over the interior of the cockpit (just kidding).
Here is a closeup of the little gold inscription located below the model. It mentions that the pyrotechnics were done by someone named Joe Viskocil. |
