Catalog Description:

STAR WARS: RETURN OF THE JEDI
ACTION FIGURE ACCESSORIES

Made for realistic battle action play! Starting with the new EWOK Assault Catapult--a working working replica of the catapult used by the EWOKS against THE EMPIRE on the planet ENDOR. This catapult can fire plastic boulders and there is even a special crank for controlling distance.

Description:
Was there an Ewok toy that didn't come with rocks? The Ewok Village had them, the Ewok Combat Glider had them, and this Ewok Assault Catapult had them-- two of them, to be exact. If the true measure of a toy's coolness are its accessories, then the Ewok stuff was downright lame. Sure, the Ewoks' lack of technology meant that neat laser weapons and explosives were out of the question. But Kenner could have given us a log of some sort, or even a pointed stick. Because, to be honest, those hollow plastic "boulders" just didn't cut it after awhile.

Aside from the two rocks, the Assault Catapult also included, as you might have guessed, a catapult. It was made to look as though it was composed of tied-together logs, and it had a pretty neat action feature, which used the flexibility of the plastic to fling things (namely, the rocks) into the air.

Although Kenner had plans to issue this toy as a part of their animated Ewoks line (it even appears on the reverse of the Ewoks blister card), it never made it beyond 1984 and Return of the Jedi packaging. However, Kenner later used the molds for the Assault Catapult to produce a component of the Battle Wagon from their Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves line.
