Return of the Jedi (Narrated Story) Gold Strip Plate Award
This is a rare narrated record award for the sale of 1,000,000 copies of the story of Return of the Jedi issued by Buena Vista Records. Most official Star Wars recordings (soundtracks, disco spinoffs, singles, and narrated albums) attained the gold and platinum status (1,000,000 and 2,000,000 units, respectively, in the United States for singles) by recording industry certification agencies in various countries. As a result, there are a multitude of in-house and agency record awards associated with the Star Wars films.

These awards were presented to artists, record execs, and the top creative talent from the Star Wars movies, however, in practice only a handful of these record awards are ever made for a particular certification. Star Wars record awards come in a variety of styles that were issued over the years: floater, strip plate, hologram. Some feature an LP or 45 RPM record, CD, or cassette, or some combination.

This gold RIAA award is of the strip plate style and is awarded for sale of 1,000,000 units in the United States.
