Sears Cantina Adventure Set: Besides the display stand included in the Early Bird Certificate package, this was the first cardboard playset that Kenner offered for sale. It was only available through Sears, and more than anything else, it was a ploy to sell 4 figures in one shot. But collectors know that this is one of the most special items out there for it included the Blue Snaggletooth figure. This set was the only place you could pick up this figure. While the Blue Snaggletooth is one of the highest priced loose figures available, there seems to be no shortage of them. This must mean that Sears and Kenner sold an extremely large number of these sets. This set was only available in the U.S. and probably Canada. The Blue Snaggletooth is shown on the box to have the laser rifle gun. But included inside is a figure with a laser pistol. The figures were each in individual baggies and came packed in 1 or 2 white cardboard boxes. Plastic pegs were included so that the figures would be able to stand, unaided, on the cardboard. The Blue Snaggletooth figure was the only figure to undergo major changes because of miscommunication between Lucasfilm and Kenner. He was later relieved of his silver disco boots and put into a red jumpsuit. And he was shortened. In fact, the later versions of this playset included the corrected Snaggletooth while the box photo was never changed. This could be quite an upsetting surprise to a collector that paid a premium for a sealed version of this playset.
