1979 / Retail Display

Cool huh? In-store presentation is a big deal to most toy retailers. They like unified displays, so that the products look attractive when sitting together on the shelves. For this reason, toy producers like Kenner will often develop retail display plans, as well as attractive point-of-purchase signs. Here you see Kenner's proposed retail display format for their 1979 Star Wars line. You can see a number of early Kenner Star Wars products on these shelves. Above them on the wall is the large Toy Center display header card, on the shelves sit a couple of 20-back display bins, and on the shelf facings are quite a few Toy Center shelf talkers. You can see a similar set-up in the 1979 Toy Fair catalog.
